Description
Adjust fan belt tension on classic VW air-cooled engines with this 10 piece alternator/generator pulley shim kit. These steel shims are placed between the pulley halves to fine-tune belt tension; unused shims are stored under the outer pulley cup.
- Direct replacement for common air-cooled VW pulley shim sets
- Replaces EMPI 9197 and equivalent to VW ref. 111903131A
- Typical shim thickness: ~0.5 mm (approx. 0.020") each

Installation notes: Keep a total of ten shims in the system. Add shims between pulley halves to loosen the belt; remove shims from between the halves (and store them under the cup) to tighten the belt. Verify proper belt deflection per factory guidelines.
