The S&S Cycle Crankcase Breather Reed Valve is designed to improve engine performance by regulating crankcase pressure more efficiently. Unlike traditional breathers, this new-style valve operates independently of crankshaft rotation. It features three steel reeds that remain closed until crankcase pressure exceeds cam chest pressure, at which point they open to release air and oil mist. As the pistons move upward, the reeds close again, preventing air from re-entering and maintaining a slight vacuum in the crankcase. This enhances oil scavenging and reduces high-rpm oil carryover, particularly in engines with less-than-perfect piston ring seals. Installation is straightforward, with no need for timing mark alignment or rotating parts.
